This blog is about my birding exploits, which mainly take place in the Weymouth/Portland area, in Dorset. Will also include stuff from elsewhere, plus some other critters too. Hope you enjoy. Black-winged Stilt. Oh Yeah, And That Ibis Again

Dashed down to Radipole Lake after work, after being informed there was a Black-winged Stilt showing from the North Hide. On arrival, was told that the bird had flown, but probably hadn't gone far. Sure enough, it wasn't long before I picked it up flying back to the North Pool. Sadly, it was never close and was often obscured by vegetation, but adequate views were had of this lovely bird.

On head and neck patterning, appears to be the Chew Valley Lake bird from yesterday.

This was my first Black-winged Stilt in Dorset for 22 years, having  missed last years bird. That one, at Cogden in 1990, was found by Ricky, who happened to be in the hide watching this bird. Hope your eye sorts itself out soon Ricky.

And here it is with the Glossy Ibis. Check out those legs. The ones on the Stilt of course, not the Ibis.

I wonder how unique this shot is in British terms?
