This blog is about my birding exploits, which mainly take place in the Weymouth/Portland area, in Dorset. Will also include stuff from elsewhere, plus some other critters too. Hope you enjoy. A Patch Tick

The Black-winged Stilt decided to do the decent thing and move to The Fleet today. Thanks to a text from my good friend Steve, who had located the bird on the meadow pool at Abbotsbury Swannery, I was able to take a couple of hours off work in order to enjoy this elegant beauty. I must thank Dave as well, who also works at the Swannery.

Much better views today, as the pictures below show.

This was only the second Black-winged Stilt for The Fleet. The first was also at Abbotsbury Swannery on 26th July 1956. There was a claim of 2 together at Abbotsbury Swannery in 1987, but unfortunately the record was not submitted to the British Birds Rarities Committee.
