This blog is about my birding exploits, which mainly take place in the Weymouth/Portland area, in Dorset. Will also include stuff from elsewhere, plus some other critters too. Hope you enjoy. Honey Buzzards Again

Decided to go and watch Honey Buzzards again. I can't really get enough of these beauties, so you may see this species featuring quite a bit over the next few weeks. I really love them and it's one my favourite birds. Two males were seen today, the stunning pale male and a different and darker, more heavily barred male than last weeks bird. For photography, both were distant, so images are heavily cropped.

First, a few shots of the pale male.

Note the distinctive upperpart colouration and markings.

The lack of underpart markings, combined with it's grey head, really gives this bird a hooded appearance.

Now, the other male of the day.

Here he is displaying. Note the missing inner secondaries on the left wing.

And last weeks male for comparison.

Note the paler lesser underwing coverts and rear belly on this individual.
