This blog is about my birding exploits, which mainly take place in the Weymouth/Portland area, in Dorset. Will also include stuff from elsewhere, plus some other critters too. Hope you enjoy. All photographs are © Brett Spencer, unless indicated otherwise. The above image is of a Siberian Rubythroat, taken in Holland in 2016.

Once Bittern, Twice Shy

Ok, so it's a pants title for this post.  Anyway, started my day at Lodmoor and saw the following.....

Bittern

What the hell?

Marsh Harrier

The cross dressing adult male.

And now for the common stuff.

Buzzard

Goldfinch

Collared Dove

Coal Tit

Green Woodpecker

Next stop was Littlesea, on The Fleet. Very quiet here, with 10 Goldeneye and a handful of winter thrushes, mostly Fieldfares, being the only things of any note. A couple of photo year ticks though.

Great Black-backed Gull

Common Gull

Finally, I paid a visit to The Nothe and Weymouth Harbour. Nothing of any note, but the following were photographed.

Rock Pipit

Somewhat more confiding than yesterday's Water Pipit.

Watching a fellow Rock Pipit flying over.

Little Grebe

On returning home, found this Black Redstart in me garden.

And this Chiffchaff, which I have to admit, looks like a Siberian Chiffchaff, but only saw it very briefly and this photo, which was taken from outside the front of the house looking through to the back garden through two lots of double glazing, may account for it's pale appearance.

My 10km square photo year list is now on 66.

Hi Brett,
Certainly looks good for a Sibe Chiff, very similar to the birds currently in the PC World drain, Poole.

Cheers,
Marcus
