This blog is about my birding exploits, which mainly take place in the Weymouth/Portland area, in Dorset. Will also include stuff from elsewhere, plus some other critters too. Hope you enjoy. Dorset's Bird Of The Month For March

Well, no poll again this month, because I don't think it can be argued what was the event of the month, indeed, it could turn out to be the event of the spring. The multiple arrival of White-spotted Bluethroats in March, with three birds, all of which were on Portland, was an unprecedented event locally. Of course, a fourth turned up at the beginning of April, also on Portland, but we are dealing with the month of March. I think it is fair to go for the best looking of the three and so Dorset's bird of the month goes to the cracking male that graced Suckthumb Quarry, so well done to the finders Pete and Debbie Saunders.

Yesterday evening was spent birding Littlesea on The Fleet, where the highlights were 5 Black Redstarts in the Bridging Camp and 4 Knot and 3 Grey Plover in Lynch Cove.

One of the five Black Redstarts included this male.

Knot.

And now a few more 10km square photo year ticks.

Great Tit at The Nothe.

Ringed Plover at Littlesea, The Fleet.

Mute Swan at Littlesea, The Fleet.

My 10km square photo year list now stands at 105.
