This blog is about my birding exploits, which mainly take place in the Weymouth/Portland area, in Dorset. Will also include stuff from elsewhere, plus some other critters too. Hope you enjoy. Littlesea, The Fleet

Spent the afternoon here, as I was busy in the morning. Located the first Black Brant of the winter amongst the Dark-bellied Brent Geese, where there was also a single Pale-bellied Brent Goose. Try as I might, I found no sign of a Yellow-browed Warbler and there had certainly been a clear out of some birds, notably Meadow Pipits. The two other star turns were still in residence, with both the Red-backed Shrike and Red-breasted Flycatcher showing well.

Black Brant, with a Dark-bellied Brent Goose in the foreground. This is a returning individual.

Red-backed Shrike. A bit closer, but as you can see, still a crap photo.

Red-breasted Flycatcher. Now, that's better. Still only a record shot, but so much better. The buff tips to the greater coverts age this bird as a 1st-winter.

Foraging on the ground.

And the obligatory crappy flight shot.
