This blog is about my birding exploits, which mainly take place in the Weymouth/Portland area, in Dorset. Will also include stuff from elsewhere, plus some other critters too. Hope you enjoy. Ferrybridge. Oh, And One Other Thing

Decided that Ferrybridge was the place to be and although not living up to expectations, it certainly wasn't a let down. The highlight came at the end of the day with a couple of gorgeous adult Little Gulls.

The smallest meets the biggest.

Two of the most beautiful gull species on the planet together.

The most prominent species of interest though was Kittiwake, which were constantly moving through and giving fine views in the process. I don't know what the final count was, but over 100 passed through during the day.

Only one of two 1st-years seen.

A 1st-winter Sandwich Tern was also observed.

Razorbill.

A look in Portland Harbour produced the Black Guillemot from Portland Castle, odd Slavonian and Black-necked Grebes and several Great Northern Divers. Sadly, none of the big divers had an ivory bill. Which brings me to the other thing, as this lovely juvenile Great Northern Diver performed very well from Portland Castle this afternoon.
